Terms of Service
Last updated 3 August 2026
The short version: creating a recode spends a credit, replaying one never does. You own what you generate. Cancel anytime and keep your library. Don't upload material you have no right to use, and don't treat a recode as medical or psychological treatment.
1. Using SelfRecode
You need an account to generate a recode. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done through your account. You must be at least 16 years old.
2. Credits
- Creating a new recode spends one credit. Replaying, downloading, editing, or regenerating audio from a script you already have costs nothing, ever.
- A new free account receives 5 starter credits.
- If a generation fails — for example, a video with no usable transcript — no credit is spent.
- Credits granted through a subscription remain usable for 30 days from the grant. Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred or refunded as money.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Pro is $9 per month or $49 per year, charged through Stripe. Each plan grants 30 credits per month.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime through Manage Billing in your account, which opens Stripe's billing portal.
- Cancelling stops future charges. You keep your library and any credits already granted until they expire normally. We don't pro-rate partial periods.
- If a payment fails, we'll mark the account past due while Stripe retries. Access to what you've already created is not removed.
- If something goes wrong on our end — a charge that shouldn't have happened, credits that never arrived — email help@mail.articledojo.com and we'll sort it out.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the source material you submit and of the scripts and audio produced from it. You're free to use your recodes personally and commercially. We store your scripts only to give you a library, and we don't use your content to train anything.
You confirm you have the right to submit whatever you upload or paste. Don't submit material you don't own or have permission to use, and respect the terms of the platforms your sources come from.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use SelfRecode to produce content that harasses, defrauds, impersonates, or endangers anyone, or that breaks the law where you are. Don't attempt to overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or automate the service outside its intended interface. We may suspend accounts that do.
6. What SelfRecode is not
SelfRecode is a self-directed learning and audio tool. It is not therapy, medical advice, psychological treatment, financial advice, or a substitute for a qualified professional. Generated content is produced by an AI model working from a source you chose, and it can be wrong, incomplete, or not right for you — apply your own judgement. Don't listen to a recode while doing anything that requires your full attention or where distraction would be dangerous.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the service running and improving, but it's provided as-is. Features can change, and generation depends on third-party AI and voice services that can be slow or unavailable. We can't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you paid us in the previous 12 months.
8. Ending your account
You can stop using SelfRecode at any time and ask us to delete your account and data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why first.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we'll update the date above and notify account holders by email. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
